Mat and Colene wanted the best of both worlds — grow their rental portfolio and create a space where family could stay. We helped them do exactly that by transforming their backyard into a warm, modern home.

The single-storey, standalone build includes three bedrooms, a single garage, timber weatherboard cladding, and a cozy fireplace — perfect for visiting whānau or future tenants. To make it happen, we demolished the old garage and sleepout, filled in a disused pool, and built while Mat and Colene continued living in the front house. A great example of making space, without moving out.
